In partnership with the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), QinetiQ recently unveiled Australia’s first scalable high-power laser optical chain prototype. In 2023, the Hampshire-based defense company was granted a contract to work with the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) on creating a defensive laser system prototype with a broad range of deployment possibilities. Following the demonstration, QinetiQ stated that it is now closer to mapping out pathways to build sovereign directed energy systems to combat the threat posed by current and emerging uncrewed systems.
