BrahMos Aerospace, in partnership with Russia, is reevaluating the technical specifications and pricing of the BrahMos-2K hypersonic cruise missile following a lukewarm response from potential stakeholders. Feedback highlighted concerns over the missile’s high developmental and unit costs, prompting both countries to explore design refinements aimed at improving performance while reducing expenses. Initially conceived as an Indian adaptation of Russia’s 3M22 Zircon, the BrahMos-2K was designed to reach speeds of Mach 6 and cover ranges between 800 to 900 kilometers. Unlike nuclear-capable strategic systems, the BrahMos-2K is intended exclusively for conventional operations, offering the Indian Armed Forces a cutting-edge non-nuclear strike option.
