Austal has handed over the tenth Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boat to the Royal Australian Navy at its Henderson shipyard, completing the navy’s procurement under a program first awarded in 2020 and expanded through subsequent contract options. Designed for extended maritime security missions, the 58-meter aluminum patrol vessels support border protection, surveillance, and interdiction operations. With a range of 4,000 nautical miles and endurance of up to 28 days at sea, the platforms enhance Australia’s offshore patrol capability. Additional vessels of the same class remain under construction for the Australian Border Force under a separate agreement.
