BAE Systems subsidiary OneArc has secured a five-year contract to modernize the Italian Army’s virtual training infrastructure by transitioning from legacy VBS3 platforms to the advanced VBS4 simulation environment. The upgrade introduces Mantle terrain-generation technology alongside new training workstations and improved fire-integration tools. The modernization will support training across armored, aviation, sniper, and joint fires units while ensuring compatibility with NATO simulation standards. Enhanced terrain modeling and after-action analysis capabilities will allow Italian forces to conduct more realistic multi-domain mission rehearsals in digital environments.
