Battelle has been awarded the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Scientific and Technical Engagement Partnership (STEP) 2.0 contract to advance biological threat mitigation efforts. The agreement includes a $52.9 million base period and could reach $93.3 million if all options are exercised. Managed under DTRA’s Global Threat Reduction Directorate, the program focuses on countering weapons of mass destruction, particularly biological risks. Battelle will provide scientific and technical support to enhance US force readiness against emerging biological threats. Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, the nonprofit research organization supports national security, health, and energy sectors. The award follows Battelle’s participation in major Pentagon programs, including a multi-billion-dollar defense technology support contract and long-term CBRN support services.
