Belgian firm John Cockerill Defense is set to convert 113 military vehicles into ambulances for Ukraine amid ongoing conflict with Russia. The project covers 11 BV-206 all-terrain vehicles and 102 Unimog U4000 trucks, refurbished in partnership with Mercedes-Benz and Lambert Group. Deliveries are expected to begin by late 2025, continuing into early 2026. The contract, worth tens of millions of euros, also supports jobs at Cockerill’s Aubange facility. The BV-206 measures 7 meters, carries up to 17 personnel and 2,250 kilograms of cargo, and features a 132-horsepower engine with a top speed of 65 km/h. The Unimog U4000, 6 meters long, carries seven personnel with a payload of 3,000 kilograms and a 222-horsepower engine, reaching 90 km/h. This initiative follows prior upgrades of M113 and BV-206 vehicles for Ukraine in 2023–2024.
