The “Sichuan” is the first amphibious assault ship that the People’s Liberation Army Navy of China has launched under the Type 076 class. It is regarded as Beijing’s biggest naval vessel because it has a full-length flight deck, a double island superstructure, and a full-load displacement of more than 40,000 tons. The Sichuan is able to launch fighter jets thanks to its electromagnetic catapult and arrester technologies, in addition to carrying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The Sichuan will go through a number of tests and sea trials following its unveiling ceremony.
