The USS Bainbridge, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, has been equipped with Raytheon’s Coyote interceptors, marking their first deployment on such a ship. Spotted during Ionian Sea drills, the launchers add protection for the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group. Coyote drones, initially reconnaissance tools, evolved into counter-UAV interceptors and have achieved over 170 kills. The Block 2 version boosts speed and accuracy. This capability strengthens defense against threats like Houthi drones targeting warships and shipping routes.
