The Common Multi-Mission Truck (CMMT), a novel type of modular and mass-producible air vehicle resembling a cruise missile, has been introduced by Lockheed Martin. The CMMT, also known as the “comet,” is intended to be a cheap munition that can be launched in large quantities at a single site to either wipe out enemy defenses or guarantee the obliteration of a high-value target. It has a modular open systems architecture that allows subsystems like seekers, payloads, and engines to be reconfigured according to the objectives of the mission.
