Norwegian shipbuilder Maritime Partner has been contracted by Denmark to build seven Sjøbjørn 71 boats for the Danish Coastal Rescue Service. The incoming fleet will play a “major role” in supporting the force’s more than 600 yearly operations in Danish territories, notably across the Kattegat and sections of the Baltic Sea. The new ships, which will be formally commissioned as the Danish Rescue Vessels (DRV), will take over rescue, maritime aid, and emergency response duties from sites in Anholt, Gedser, Grenå, Nexø, Østerby, Rønne, and Skagen.
