At this year’s Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France, Diehl Defence and HENSOLDT announced plans to strengthen their long-standing partnership in ground-based air defence. Building on their jointly developed, battle-proven systems already in production and available for rapid delivery, the companies aim to offer advanced air defence solutions capable of countering evolving threats. These software-defined systems leverage cutting-edge technologies to address both current and emerging challenges.

Today’s air threats have become significantly more complex. Unlike the past, when aircraft and helicopters were the primary concern, modern defence must now contend with a wide array of dangers, including cruise missiles, supersonic and hypersonic weapons, drones, and ballistic missiles. Diehl Defence and HENSOLDT are working to meet these challenges by further enhancing the synergy between their weapon and sensor systems.

The two companies have a well-established track record of collaboration, particularly with Diehl Defence’s IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defence system, which incorporates Airbus’ IBMS-FC battle management software and HENSOLDT’s advanced radar technologies. Both companies are now moving forward with AI-driven developments, such as advanced target recognition in the TRML-4D fire-control radar, multi-source sensor data fusion, and AI-assisted situational analysis and mission planning, marking the next phase of their joint innovation.
