From Finnish manufacturer Marine Alutech Oy Ab, Lithuania has agreed to purchase two multi-purpose assault boats. With a contract value of 22 million euros ($24 million), the transaction was facilitated by a cooperative procurement agreement with Latvia. The Coastal Defense Battalion will run the ships, which will be given to the Lithuanian Navy to enhance maritime security along the nation’s coastline, from the Gulf of Finland to the Curonian Lagoon close to the Russian border.
