General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has delivered the first Eagle 6×6 medium protected medical vehicle to the German Armed Forces under a 2020 contract. The vehicle was handed over to the Medical Training Regiment in Feldkirchen, Bavaria, during a live field drill.
Germany’s $159 million investment covers up to 80 units, which will join the country’s existing fleet of light and heavy armored medical vehicles, including the Eagle Ground Reconnaissance System and the Boxer Multi-Role Armored Vehicle.
The 7-meter Eagle 6×6 boasts a payload capacity of 6,000 kilograms and can carry up to 14 personnel, depending on configuration. It runs on a 360-horsepower diesel engine, features an Allison five-speed automatic transmission, and uses a fully independent De Dion axle suspension system.
With a top speed of 110 km/h and a 700 km range, the vehicle is also available in an ambulance version equipped with a modular stretcher system and modern medical equipment capable of transporting and treating up to two patients.
