GE Aerospace has secured orders to deliver eight LM2500 marine gas turbines for two future Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, ensuring continued propulsion support for the US Navy’s primary surface combatant. Each vessel will be powered by four turbines, maintaining a propulsion configuration that has served the class for decades. With 74 destroyers already in service, the LM2500 remains central to US naval power projection. GE’s continuous upgrades since the engine’s 1969 introduction have helped sustain its global adoption across allied fleets.
