Germany has awarded RTX’s Raytheon ELCAN optical systems division a contract to supply a customized version of the Specter DR 1-4x weapon sight as part of its ongoing soldier modernization program. Developed in cooperation with Leonardo Germany, the configuration integrates an Aimpoint reflex sight above the primary optic, allowing rapid transition between close-quarters combat and mid-range engagements. The procurement reflects growing European demand for advanced infantry optics featuring enhanced laser protection and specialized reticles. Several NATO members have collectively ordered more than 100,000 Specter DR units since 2024 to improve soldier lethality and targeting performance.
