Lithuania has signed a €210-million contract with KNDS Deutschland for the procurement of 12 Leguan bridge-laying systems, significantly strengthening the country’s combat engineering and mobility capabilities. Mounted on Leopard 2 tank chassis, the systems can rapidly deploy bridges capable of supporting heavy tracked and wheeled vehicles under MLC 80 standards. Each unit will be delivered with multiple bridge spans, training packages, simulators, and logistical support. The acquisition enhances Lithuania’s ability to maneuver armored formations across difficult terrain, aligning with NATO mobility requirements and reinforcing regional deterrence along the alliance’s eastern flank.
