Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and Safran Power Units have officially renewed their long-standing cooperation agreement for the propulsion of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM), strengthening their successful partnership. As part of the updated agreement, Kongsberg has placed a significant order for several hundred TR40 turbojet engines.

Safran Power Units has been supplying the TR40 engine for the NSM for several years, contributing to the missile’s operational success across NATO and the European Union. This continued success has prompted both companies to further solidify their collaboration and align efforts to ramp up production.

The new engine order secures Safran Power Units’ production pipeline well into the next decade, providing the long-term stability needed to expand manufacturing capabilities and support sub-suppliers as they scale up.

The NSM, developed by Kongsberg and first deployed by the Royal Norwegian Navy in 2012, is a highly capable anti-ship missile designed to defeat advanced enemy defense systems. It has since been adopted by multiple nations, including the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland, Australia, Spain, Romania, Malaysia, the UK, Belgium, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
