According to local media sources, Nigeria has launched its first fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles for the military.
As part of the government’s overall clean energy plan, the fleet—which consists of 20 buses, 50 pickup trucks, and 14 executive transport vehicles—was put into service at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja. CNG offers fuel efficiency comparable to that of traditional gasoline engines and is applicable to all vehicle types, from light to heavy-duty, with lower tailpipe emissions.
Natural gas is compressed to a fraction of its original volume to create it.
