The Army has advanced Northrop Grumman’s ATHENA missile warning sensor into Phase II of its Improved Threat Detection System. Designed to replace current defenses, ITDS offers wider detection against drones, missiles, and small arms. ATHENA provides 360-degree coverage with high-resolution, onboard processing, and integration with countermeasure systems. Prototypes are expected by 2026.
