The mobile air defense system that Ukraine has created is based on the US High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, sometimes known as the Humvee. The Kyiv-modified surface-to-air missile vehicle retains only the Humvee chassis and prioritizes maneuverability and mobility. It has a new cabin and a missile launch system that operates on the “fire-and-forget” principle, allowing the vehicle to swiftly escape to safety and avoid any possible counterattacks. The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 3rd Assault Brigade has been given the domestically modified military vehicle to use against Russian troops.
