Yantar USC has celebrated the launch of its latest project, the Ivan Gren-class landing ship RFS Vladimir Andreyev, designed for the Russian Navy. Held at the shipbuilder’s Kaliningrad yard, the ceremony signified progress in Russia’s broader initiative to construct up to 11 amphibious support ships to bolster its seaborne troop deployment capability.

High-ranking officials such as Navy Commander Admiral Alexander Moiseyev and Svetlana Morik from USC were present at the event, the latter taking on the role of ship sponsor. With sea trials and additional outfitting on the horizon, the Vladimir Andreyev is projected to enter service in 2026. It is expected to join the Pacific Fleet, where it will assume responsibilities currently managed by aging Soviet-era amphibious vessels.
