Russia is introducing new terrain-mimicking camouflage for frontline personnel and vehicles, enhancing concealment from UAVs and thermal reconnaissance. Ukrainian reports link the innovation to Moscow’s adoption of small, mobile strike units—often four to six soldiers—executing the so-called “thousand cuts” approach, intended to incrementally degrade Ukrainian defensive positions. While achieving territorial advances last year, Russian infantry has suffered significant casualties. The campaign is reinforced by aerial bombardments targeting urban centers, including Kharkiv, as Moscow balances attrition tactics with sustained air operations amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
