The Slovak Armed Forces have commenced a comprehensive soldier modernization effort featuring the rollout of the M25 “Vzor 25” combat uniform and the adoption of new domestically produced small arms. The M25 replaces the legacy 2007 camouflage system and emphasizes enhanced field survivability, ergonomic comfort, and mission flexibility. Officials highlighted that the design incorporates battlefield lessons and direct troop feedback to improve long-term operational endurance. Each base uniform set costs roughly 300 euros and includes core garments, with specialized configurations such as flame-resistant variants available for specific mission profiles. Although textile materials are sourced abroad, final production stages will be handled by Slovak firms. In parallel, Bratislava has selected Grand Power as its primary small-arms supplier. The GP M4M assault rifle will serve as the standard infantry weapon, supported by the GP R10 sniper rifle, Stribog SP9 A3 SMG, and GP Q1 pistol. The modernization package, valued at 82 million euros, is scheduled for phased implementation through 2028, strengthening domestic defense manufacturing capacity.
