Taiwan’s military is organizing a live-fire exercise to validate unit readiness and operational integration of newly acquired weapons systems.
Preparatory efforts include ammunition reviews, maintenance work, and public engagement. Army Commander Lu Kun-hsiu said the drill is designed to align training objectives and command understanding.
Weapons shipments are projected to reach their peak in 2026. Deliveries this year encompass 108 M1A2T tanks, 14 Volcano mine-laying platforms, and 18 HIMARS launchers, with 11 already deployed alongside ATACMS missiles. TOW-2B and Javelin anti-armor systems were fully delivered last year.
Taiwan is further strengthening its defense posture through partnerships such as the Shield AI–NCSIST agreement for AI-powered unmanned systems. Expansion of Patriot missile defenses and the procurement of IRST21 Legion ES tracking sensors under a US contract add to its growing capabilities.
