Taiwan will produce 48,000 boron carbide NIJ Level IV plates by 2029, costing NT$840 million ($28.2 million). The plates stop armor-piercing rounds and complement NIJ Level III suits. A separate NT$1.6 billion project for 160,000 ceramic-polyethylene plates is also underway for delivery by 2025.
