Taiwan’s defense ministry is proposing a special $20–30 billion budget to boost its missile and drone capabilities. The plan, expected by month-end, marks the fourth special defense budget aimed for 2026. This funding will support procurement of missiles, drones, uncrewed vessels, and command platforms from local and US suppliers. Amid rising tensions with China, Taiwan is accelerating unmanned defense investments, including a deal with Anduril and a program to build 48,750 drones by 2027. Strict bans on Chinese-origin parts are enforced.
