Thales and Navantia have launched their first joint naval modernization effort in Thailand, supplying three IFF systems for two Pattani-class patrol vessels and the HTMS Chang landing platform dock. Navantia will handle the Chang’s refurbishment, while Thales provides TSA3520 interrogators and TSC4000 transponders. These systems will be integrated with existing radars and combat suites to boost situational awareness and improve threat identification. The collaboration builds on previous work with the Royal Thai Navy, including Thales-supplied radars, sonars, mine-hunting technology, and command systems. Recently, Thales also secured a contract to modernize the HTMS Chakri Naruebet with an integrated platform management system for propulsion, power, and damage control. Navantia, meanwhile, is supporting the upgrade of the HTMS Chang with new combat and surveillance technologies.
