Thales has introduced a compact counter-sniper capability designed to help troops detect long-range shooters operating in daylight conditions. The Modular Counter Sniper System identifies reflections from optical devices such as rifle scopes, binoculars, and cameras using goggles fitted with selectable filters and a beam shaper attached to a standard pointing laser. The solution builds on earlier long-range detection systems but significantly reduces size and weight, making it practical for frontline use. Optimized for daytime operations, the system complements existing low-light counter-sniper technologies. Thales is refining the design for production, aiming to field the capability as quickly as possible.
