Shield AI has provided the US Marine Corps with its first ViDAR (Visual Detection and Ranging) optical sensors, which use artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled technologies to aid drone operations. ViDAR is a payload system that uses wide-area motion imagery to identify, geolocate, and track objects. It is especially helpful for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and search-and-rescue missions in difficult maritime environments. Using ultra-HD multi-spectral sensors, the system is able to identify both stationary and moving targets at altitudes of up to 30,000 feet (9,114 meters) and monitor several objects simultaneously.
