The Korean Spring Exercise came to a close on April 16, 2025, according to the U.S. Navy and the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN).
From April 7–16, the exercise took place off the Republic of Korea’s southeastern coast. It is one of an annual series of drills between the U.S. Navy and ROKN aimed at improving the two forces’ ability to carry out mine countermeasures operations. U.S. Navy and ROKN units collaborated throughout the ten-day exercise to clear a route for ships through a simulated minefield by employing mine hunting, detection, and neutralization skills, which included the underwater detonation of a simulated mine.
Throughout the exercise, the commanders of MCMRON 7 and ROKN Mine Squadron 52 collaborated to oversee mine hunting operations for U.S. Navy and ROKN forces. This training gave participants from the U.S. and ROK Navy the opportunity to practice communicating and working as a bilateral team, as well as learn how to make the most of their combined mine hunting capabilities.
