To address the shortcomings of existing autonomous underwater sensing systems, which are often isolated and comparatively slow and expensive, defense contractor Anduril has released a mobile, AI-based, undersea sensing technology known as the Seabed Sentry that is intended to provide real-time, crucial subsea data. Real-time data transfer is difficult for current sensing platforms due to the ocean’s size and opacity, particularly in the absence of significant investment in underwater infrastructure.
