To prototype a quantum-enabled inertial navigation system, Lockheed Martin has signed a contract with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). The system, known as QuINS, uses motion-sensitive quantum sensors to determine the position, velocity, and orientation of a platform. Even when GPS is not accessible, internal measurements give accurate navigation and location-tracking capabilities. Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will collaborate with Q-CTRL and AOSense.
