OCCAR has awarded a historic night-vision procurement to the Theon-Hensoldt team, ordering tens of thousands of Mikron NVGs for German and Belgian forces. The deal expands an ongoing multinational effort to modernize night-fighting capabilities, ultimately delivering more than 178,000 systems by the end of the decade. Central to the system are advanced Exosens image intensifier tubes, enabling superior clarity and perception in low-light environments. The binocular configuration supports demanding missions such as driving, navigation, and combat operations while reducing fatigue. The contract reinforces Europe’s push for large-scale, interoperable soldier-modernization programs.
