The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has chosen BAE Systems to continue developing and supporting the deployment of the Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Operations Kit (BATDOK) through the new Force Optimization through Rapid-prototyping, Gear Enhancements & Innovative Technology (FORGE-IT) program.
FORGE-IT and BATDOK will collaborate to improve and modernize warfighters’ skills so they can deliver medical support to wounded servicemen on the battlefield and ensure they get the right care throughout their ongoing rehabilitation.
With the help of BAE Systems, AFRL created BATDOK, a software that provides a complete and trustworthy record of injuries and treatments from the time of the injury until the time of recovery. In the past, battlefield medical care has only been recorded in writing. On the other hand, BATDOK records medical treatment electronically, ensuring the seamless transmission of details regarding a patient’s injuries and field treatment to the nurses and physicians in charge of their continuous care.
Building on BATDOK, FORGE-IT will use integrated artificial intelligence capabilities to support clinical decision-making, improve medical treatment in the field, and promote remote patient monitoring.
