The US Navy has issued a request for proposals for a Vessel Construction Manager to oversee production of the US Marine Corps’ Medium Landing Ship, with a contract expected in mid-2026. The selected partner will hold the prime contract and manage shipbuilder subcontracts under a commercial-style oversight model. Initial production involves Bollinger Shipyards and Fincantieri Marinette Marine. The Navy plans to field up to 35 ships based on the LST-100 design, each capable of carrying 500,000 kilograms of payload or more than 200 troops.
