M1 Support Services and Robinson Helicopter Company have jointly proposed the R66 for the US Army’s Flight School Next program, intended to modernize rotary-wing training as legacy fleets age. The team plans to combine the R66 with AI-enhanced training tools for faster learning cycles, supported by M1’s large-scale maintenance and logistics expertise. The R66, widely used in training worldwide, offers capacity for four passengers, a Rolls-Royce RR300 engine, 140-knot top speed, and a 350-nautical-mile range. Its avionics suite includes Garmin touchscreen systems, a cockpit video recorder, impact-resistant components, and NVG compatibility.
