“At a defense aviation show in Paris, France, Indian company Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace (FWDA) presented a loitering munition with a range of 100 kilometers (62 miles).
This unmanned aerial system (UAS), known as the FWD-LM01, is built upon the family of kamikaze drones produced by the Bangalore-based business, which has delta wings intended for attack operations that demand great range.
According to a story published by the local Indian news organization The Economic Times, the plane is man-portable and can be put up in less than five minutes without using complicated equipment.
The FWD-LM01 has a 2-meter (7-foot) wingspan, a 6-kilogram (13-pound) takeoff weight, and a 1.5-hour endurance.
The drone can ascend to a height of 17,000 feet (5,182 meters) while flying and carry a payload of up to 2 kg (4 pounds) of explosives.
Its electro-optical infrared sensor suite provides real-time reconnaissance, and its AI-enabled components enable autonomous targeting and navigation.
