Boeing has secured a contract exceeding $100 million to produce additional GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators for the US Air Force. The sole-source award follows the weapon’s operational debut during Operation Midnight Hammer in 2025, when B-2 bombers deployed 14 MOPs against Iranian nuclear facilities. The 30,000-pound GPS-guided penetrator is designed to destroy hardened underground targets. Production will conclude after this batch as the Pentagon transitions to the Next-Generation Penetrator program, which will be competed openly. Deliveries of tail kits and components are expected to begin in 2028.
