Elbit Systems has secured a $260-million contract from Airbus Defence and Space to equip German Air Force A400M transport aircraft with its J-MUSIC™ Directed Infrared Counter Measures (DIRCM) systems. Awarded following a decision by Germany’s BAAINBw, the six-year deal will see Elbit deliver advanced airborne self-protection systems designed to shield aircraft from infrared-guided missile threats, particularly MANPADS. Part of the MUSIC™ product line, J-MUSIC integrates high-performance imaging sensors with laser-based countermeasures to autonomously detect, track, and disrupt incoming missiles without crew input. Its modular, scalable design supports compatibility with various aircraft and missile warning systems, while maintaining a low footprint to minimize operational impact.
