Latvia has entered into a €50 million defense contract with Germany’s Dynamit Nobel Defence to obtain the Skorpion 2 remote mine-laying platform and AT2+ anti-tank mines. The procurement marks a significant advancement in Latvia’s defense modernization and contributes to the strengthening of NATO’s defense line in Eastern Europe.

Under the terms of the agreement, DND will supply Skorpion 2 units, AT2+ mines, and a complete support framework including operator training, logistics, and maintenance resources. The Ministry of Defence underscored the acquisition as vital for improving Latvia’s rapid defensive operations and engineering resilience.

Designed for high mobility, the Skorpion 2 can deploy hundreds of mines within minutes, enabling rapid formation of minefields up to 2,000 meters long. This capability enhances area denial effectiveness and battlefield flexibility.

The AT2+ anti-tank mines feature a multi-sensor fuze system utilizing magnetic, seismic, and pressure triggers. Their programmable self-destruct sequence ensures compliance with NATO safety standards and reduces residual dangers after combat.
