To rapidly advance drone capabilities, the Pentagon has introduced Project G.I., a competitive program that challenges developers to deliver scalable, mission-ready UAS platforms. The project places emphasis on drones that are already at a high readiness level and can be fielded without extensive redesign.

Unlike traditional procurement processes, this initiative will incorporate soldier input early on, ensuring real-world applicability and quick battlefield integration. Firms must submit viable drone systems by December 2025. The three most promising entries will divide $20 million in government funding to move toward deployment.
