Finnish defense firm Summa Defence has delivered the first operational batch of its Zeus first-person view (FPV) drones to Ukraine, marking a milestone in the company’s transition from development to industrial-scale production. Production readiness for the Zeus series was achieved in 2025 through a collaborative program with a Ukrainian partner, ensuring the systems were refined under real battlefield conditions. Manufactured and tested entirely in Finland, the Zeus drones are classified as dual-use platforms and are available in three distinct size classes tailored to different mission profiles. The Zeus family consists of tactical-level FPV drones that vary in payload capacity, range, and control architecture, offering both radio-controlled and fiber-optic-guided configurations. The 11-inch variant highlights this modularity, supporting fiber-optic control for electronic-warfare-resilient missions or radio control for extended ranges beyond 20 kilometers. Payload capacity ranges from approximately 3 kilograms in fiber-optic mode to 5 kilograms in radio-controlled configuration, with speeds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour. The larger 13-inch Zeus variant is optimized for heavier payloads, while a compact 2.5-inch microdrone supports short-range reconnaissance tasks. Together, the Zeus platforms reflect Europe’s growing focus on adaptable, survivable FPV systems suitable for modern high-intensity conflicts.
