MBDA and Safran have jointly unveiled THUNDART, a new 150-kilometer (93-mile) precision-guided rocket system designed to replace France’s legacy Lance-Roquette Unitaire (LRU) launchers.
Presented as a ready-to-test, operationally viable system rather than a distant concept, THUNDART forms part of France’s initiative to modernize its long-range strike capabilities.
The program combines MBDA’s large-scale manufacturing expertise with Safran’s advanced guidance technology, derived from the AASM precision air-to-ground munitions family.
