Hanwha Aerospace has secured a 705.4-billion-won ($480 million) contract to begin large-scale production of South Korea’s L-SAM air defense system, with interceptor and launcher deliveries planned through 2030. L-SAM will provide high-altitude defense capability and serve as the upper layer of South Korea’s multi-tier architecture. Hanwha Systems has separately received funds for the system’s advanced radar component, while multiple firms support subsystem production. South Korea is also advancing L-SAM II to achieve extended interception performance by 2028.
