Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has introduced the LAHAT ALPHA, a next-generation missile in its Laser-Homing Anti-Tank (LAHAT) family, capable of striking targets beyond 20 kilometers. Weighing 25 kilograms and measuring 2 meters, the missile features a sizable warhead effective against armored vehicles, fortified positions, coastal installations, and mobile targets. Designed for stand-off engagements, LAHAT ALPHA can be launched from ground vehicles or helicopters and guided by ground or airborne laser designators. Its laser-homing system allows reliable operation without GPS. IAI notes that operator training requires under one week. The rollout reflects global trends toward precision-guided weapons that deliver tank-level impact from safe distances. Comparable systems, such as Rafael’s Spike NLOS and Lockheed Martin’s JAGM, underscore rising demand for cost-effective, network-enabled munitions suited to rapid deployment across multiple platforms.
