The K-5 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), a nuclear-capable system with an operational range of 5,000 to 6,000 kilometers, has been developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This confirmation was made at the laying of the foundation stone for the Kerala Spacepark (KSPACE) in Thiruvananthapuram, where a former scientist from BrahMos Aerospace said that the K-4 SLBM, with a range of 3,500 kilometers, has been put into service aboard Arihant-class submarines. The K-6 SLBM, which is anticipated to have a range of up to 8,000 kilometers and reach speeds of Mach 7.5, is currently being developed by the DRDO. In a panel discussion on indigenous defense technologies that was attended by scientists, government officials, and industry executives, these updates were revealed. The purpose of the KSPACE facility is to foster aerospace and defense innovation and promote cooperation between research organizations, businesses, and commercial sector organizations.
