JSW Defence and Shield AI have launched a $90-million investment to build a V-BAT unmanned aerial system manufacturing plant in Hyderabad. The facility, part of the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Maheshwaram, will handle production, assembly, and testing, with operations targeted for late 2026. A long-term technology-transfer arrangement will allow JSW to localize components and build a domestic industry base. The V-BAT’s VTOL fixed-wing design enables rapid deployment, while its 25-pound payload capacity, 56-mile-per-hour speed, and 20,000-foot ceiling support diverse ISR missions.
