“After Israel used a lot of ammunition in its recent conflict with Iran, the United States said Monday that it had approved a $510 million sale to Israel of bomb guidance kits and associated support.
In a statement, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) stated, “The proposed sale will enhance Israel’s capability to meet current and future threats by improving its ability to defend Israel’s borders, vital infrastructure, and population centers.”
It further stated that “the United States is dedicated to the security of Israel, and it is vital to US national interests to help Israel to build and sustain a strong and ready self-defense capability.”
The DSCA has given the necessary notification to the US Congress, which still has to approve the deal, and the State Department has authorized the potential sale.
In an effort to terminate Iran’s nuclear program, which Tehran claims is for peaceful purposes but Washington and other nations assert is for developing nuclear weapons, Israel launched an unprecedented air strike on June 13 against Iranian nuclear facilities, scientists, and senior military leaders.
After weeks of seeking a diplomatic solution to replace the nuclear agreement with Tehran that he abrogated during his first term, Trump ultimately opted for military action and commanded US assaults on Iranian nuclear facilities.
