Israeli defense technology company Xtend has secured a major tender to provide 5,000 first-person view (FPV) kamikaze drones to the Israeli Ground Forces. Each drone, priced at about 3,500 shekels ($40), brings the total contract value to nearly $5.87 million. The agreement also includes delivery of operating stations, virtual reality (VR) glasses for drone operators, and offers an option for an additional 5,000 units. The drones, measuring 10 inches (25 cm), can carry payloads of up to 2.5 kilograms, enabling precision attacks. Deployed most likely at the company level within battalions, these systems are intended to give soldiers rapid, low-cost strike capabilities. By integrating VR-controlled drones, Israel aims to significantly strengthen ground forces with tailored tools suited to modern combat demands.
