Israeli defense technology startup Insignito has secured a contract to supply 180 acoustic unmanned aerial system (UAS) detection systems to protect critical VIP sites. Deployment of the networked “Dumbo” sensors will begin in January 2026, with full operational capability expected by the end of the year. Each protected location will feature six interconnected sensors that detect and triangulate drone positions based on acoustic signatures. The system, already tested in Israel and the US, demonstrated the ability to detect drones up to 2 kilometers away while maintaining precise direction readings. Insignito’s technology offers a low-cost, scalable approach to counter-UAS operations, catering to both military and civilian security sectors. Backed by $1.5 million in pre-seed funding from Fresh Defense Fund and Colorado-based ICI Fund, the firm aims to expand into the US and European markets, leveraging growing demand for affordable anti-drone solutions. The Dumbo system’s distributed acoustic network enables coverage without reliance on radar, making it effective in environments with limited electromagnetic visibility. Insignito will showcase the platform at a tactical UAS convention in Tel Aviv, attended by global defense and government representatives. The deal reinforces Israel’s position as a leader in counter-UAS innovation, addressing rising threats from low-cost drones targeting infrastructure and security assets.
